POLK COUNTY, Minn. — A Grand Forks man waived his Thursday, Sept. 11, omnibus hearing and pleaded not guilty to assault charges for allegedly firing a gun inside an occupied East Grand Forks apartment.

Marko Dadok Ruot, 44, faces three counts of felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. The crime has a mandatory minimum three-year sentence and a maximum seven-year sentence.

The alleged incident occurred on May 26, 2024. Ruot's case was delayed because he was apprehended at his home in Grand Forks, and he had a criminal case to resolve in Grand Forks County before he could be extradited to Polk County.
