LEAVENWORTH COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) - A Leavenworth County man was sentenced Thursday for battery on a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence and interfering with an officer.
Thirty-eight-year-old William Bingo Dickerson Jr. was found guilty on all four counts following a two-day trial in Leavenworth County District Court in April.
Dickerson Jr. kicked a Tonganoxie police officer while in custody on Sept. 28, 2024. He was arrested after an officer observed him turning without a signal. Once the officer stopped him, Dickerson Jr. gave inconsistent answers, provided a false name and showed signs of impairment, court documents said.
During his trial, Dickerson Jr. filed motions for a new trial and for ineffective assistance of counsel. Both motions were denied.
