TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Members of the Terre Haute Fire Department came to the Terre Haute Casino and Resort on Thursday morning for their annual 9/11 memorial stair climb to honor and remember the fallen firefighters who lost their lives during this tragic event.
THFD Captain Nick Arnold talked about what the fire department does every year to honor the fallen firefighters.
"In order to honor those 343 firefighters that died on September 11, 2001, we do a memorial stair climb to recognize and honor that sacrifice that they made on that day," Captain Arnold said. "That includes 110 stories of firefighters going up and down the stairwell. In full fire gear, it's difficult, it's hard, but we push each other. We encourage each other, and we get the job done."
