NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) — A Norwalk man has a different perspective on life after what happened 24 years ago today, the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Guy Bocicaut watched as the towers fell and felt a calling to do something. That very day, he signed up with the Salvation Army.

Not even 24 hours after the attack on Sept. 11, 2001, Bocicaut was en route to Manhattan.

“I think there is something human in us — that you want to be helpful,” Bocicaut said.

He arrived the day after the terrorist attack, alongside other volunteers who came from all over the country.

Once in New York, he was greeted by thick gray skies, swarms of first responders and lines of people on the highway holding signs, thanking first responders and volunteers like himself.
