Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson has broken ranks to claim Opposition Leader Sussan Ley's sacking of Jacinta Nampijinpa Price from the shadow ministry was evidence of an “unfortunate targeting of senior Liberal women”.
Ms Ley moved to sack Senator Price from the shadow cabinet on Wednesday, following her consistent refusal to apologise for making a remark about the voting patterns of Indian migrants and failing to declare support for Ms Ley’s leadership.
The under pressure Liberal leader stressed “confidence in the leadership” was a key requirement to serve in the shadow ministry and that Ms Price had “failed the test of high standard that I have set”.
