A man has died and another is seriously injured after an overnight crash at West Ulverstone.

The 50-year-old Devonport man who died was the driver in the single-vehicle crash.

Police said his vehicle left the road and hit two power poles about 11.30pm on Penguin Road.

"A 20-year-old male passenger sustained serious injuries and has been transported to the North West Regional Hospital for medical treatment," police said.

"Crash investigators have commenced inquiries into the exact cause of the crash."

Police are calling for witnesses to the crash or anyone who saw the vehicle's manner of driving to come forward.
