Basketball Tasmania (BTas) has reaffirmed its stance on the state's northern NBL1 South licence, doubling down on its decision to endorse the Launceston Tornadoes' proposal for a new entity.
In a statement on Friday, September 12, BTas emphasised its commitment to "preserving, promoting, and growing basketball across the entire northern region".
The governing body said they "deeply value" the contributions of the Tornadoes and the North West Thunder, while acknowledging the "important role" both clubs have played in shaping Tasmanian basketball.
"Our focus has been on delivering a structure that fairly represents both regions, ensuring all athletes, coaches, officials, and other stakeholders have equal opportunity to access and engage with NBL1 basketball," BTas said.
