ROCKFORD, Ill. — First responders gathered on Thursday to honor the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Members of the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office hosted an event at the Winnebago County 9/11 Emergency Responders Memorial to honor the lives lost.
Interim Rockford Fire Department Chief Brian Carlson gave a speech during the yearly ceremony. The Sheriff's Office said in a post on socials to "take a moment today to pause, visit the memorial and remember the lives lost and the bravery that was shown on that day."
