NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. — People across the country are gathering to honor the life of conservative activist Charlie Kirk , who was fatally shot earlier while speaking at Utah Valley University.
In Northeast Florida, the Republican Party of Duval County is holding a vigil at Neptune Beach, and police have been present in the area since the afternoon to ensure security.
Mayor Cori Bylund said local leaders and volunteers quickly came together to organize the vigil, describing it as a way to remember Kirk’s life and legacy while uniting the community in a difficult time.
