LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Videos of the moments before, during and after the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk are spreading rapidly on social media, including graphic video of the shooting itself.
Witnessing violence of any kind could have an impact on your mental health, according to licensed counselor Elizabeth Parker, with the Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham counties.
Parker said violent videos and images can trigger physical and emotional responses. People might feel muscle tension or headaches, maybe even disrupted sleep.
Emotionally, they might experience intense feelings of anger or sadness.
Whatever that reaction might look like, Parker said she wants people to remember that it is normal to have a strong reaction to trauma.
