DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) - A former Garrett High School student says she’s upset by the school board’s decision to ban some books from the curriculum.
The Garrett-Keyser-Butler school board recently voted to ban six different novels.
This book banning conversation started last year when the district first banned “The Handmaid’s Tale” from the curriculum for the first time.
Abigail Carlson was a senior at Garrett High School then. She spoke to the school board about her disagreement with the decision.
“In my mind, I was like, why should I have to be doing this? I explained how I was super excited for the class and really looking forward to it,” Carlson explained.
