BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A day after finding him guilty of kidnapping and attempting to sexually assault a woman in 2022, jurors on Thursday found all aggravating factors in the case against Sergio Venegas to be true.
Among the aggravating factors -- circumstances that lead to a lengthier sentence -- found true were that the crime involved great violence or cruelty, a weapon was used and the victim was particularly vulnerable.
After taking their verdicts, Judge David Zulfa excused the jury and set a sentencing hearing for Oct. 10.
Venegas, 62, faces life in prison without parole.
