JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A new verification regulation will soon take effect in Missouri.

It is known as the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act.

The rule requires pornographic websites to have strict age-verification measures in place. The other option is for the sites to have face recognition ability.

Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway said the new law will help protect children from accessing online pornography.

“We are holding powerful corporations accountable, respecting women and victims of human trafficking, and helping ensure that minors are shielded from dangerous, sexually explicit material,” Hanaway said.
