PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The killing of Charlie Kirk during an event at a college campus in Utah sent shockwaves throughout the country, especially among the college-aged population.

Kirk, 31, was on the first stop of his "American Comeback Tour" when he was shot and killed Wednesday while debating gun violence with a member of the audience.

"I think it's really scary," Gabriel Deaton, a freshman at Brown University, told 12 News. "I mean, I think there's a lot of violence already on school campuses and stuff. Even if you don't agree with him politically — and I don't — I think no one should get shot down because of their political beliefs."

Another student, Nicholas Snow, said he wants to see the country come together in the wake of Kirk's death.
