(WPRI/Nexstar) — Officials at the University of Massachusetts Boston have given the all-clear after a shooting was reported on campus Thursday evening.
"Police have reported the incident on campus all clear," the university said in an alert issued around 5:15 p.m. ET. "There is no ongoing threat to the community."
At 4:15 p.m. ET, Massachusetts State Police said troopers were responding to the University of Massachusetts Boston on Thursday for an "unconfirmed report" of a shooting on campus.
School officials first said a "police incident" happened near the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate. The alert was then updated to a "safety threat" near a residence hall in UMass' East Building, followed by another alert 15 minutes later about a "police incident in/near Campu
