Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw has had his contract renewed for another four years.

Coun. Shelley Carroll, chair of the Toronto Police Service Board, told a news conference on Thursday that the board has extended Demkiw's contract to "secure the future leadership" of the city's police service.

"Chief Demkiw has demonstrated unwavering dedication to the people of Toronto, a steady and thoughtful approach to leadership and a genuine commitment to building trust with communities and with the members of the service," Carroll said.
