BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - We talked to Bismarck Mayor Mike Schmitz about his reelection campaign. He is seeking a second four-year term in office.

Schmitz laid out his long-term priorities to better help people experiencing homelessness.

“Quite honestly, it’s an effort that’s going to come from the citizens as much as it is from the government. Government can’t do everything. We can certainly be a facilitator,” said Schmitz.

Schmitz said he’d like to build another homeless shelter and mental health triage center.

The election is on June 9.
