CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A Charlotte man who intervened during an alleged 2024 robbery at a light rail station said the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office told him this week that the case was dismissed.

Michael Zytkow witnessed the incident, which happened July 15, 2024, when a passenger accused a man of robbing and assaulting him, according to a Charlotte police report.

Jail records show police arrested the suspect the same day.

However, despite an arrest, Zytkow’s testimony, and potentially video evidence, the case was dropped, Zytkow said.

“I’m honestly disgusted by the whole situation,” Zytkow said. “I was absolutely convinced that this would be a clear-cut case, that this would be prosecuted, and we’d at least have some justice for this.”
