(NEXSTAR) -- The United States Naval Academy, located in Annapolis, Maryland, is on lockdown Thursday evening, as officials respond to reports of threats made toward the federal service school.
Thursday evening, Naval Support Activity Annapolis, the academy's security organization, posted that the lockdown was out of an abundance of caution.
The report comes after an afternoon of threats against schools across the country, including against several historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) earlier in the day. Though the FBI said Thursday night it had determined the threats were not credible, some schools have already locked down campus activities through the weekend out of caution.
