SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
The Sierra region is expected to experience stormy weather Thursday, while lower elevations will remain mostly dry and cooler-than-average for this time of year.
Because of the slow-moving system, the KCRA 3 weather team is issuing an Impact Day for the Sierra due to thunder and lightning. If you see lightning, residents are advised to stay indoors.
Meteorologist Ophelia Young said flooding and the possibility of mixed precipitation, such as graupel or small hail, are possible as temperatures at higher elevations have notably cooled.
The Foothills and coastal hills could also see some rain showers, but not to the degree that the Sierra will experience.
