PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs signed an executive order Thursday intended to expand access to the COVID-19 vaccine.

Last month, the Food and Drug Administration approved updated COVID-19 vaccines for the upcoming winter season with new restrictions narrowing their use for younger adults and children, according to the Associated Press. The new COVID shots were approved for all seniors.

In response, the governor has signed an order instructing the Arizona Department of Health Services and Board of Pharmacy to make the recently approved COVID vaccine broadly accessible and available to Arizonans who want it, to the "fullest extent permitted under law."

The order states that the health department will issue a standing order, which shall serve as a prescription for doctors and pharmacis
