GRANT, La. (KALB) - The Grant Cougars had an explosive start to their 2025 season —thanks in no small part to running back Aymaud Sykes. The junior had 420 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns on Friday night helping the Cougars beat rivals Montgomery 76-50.
“Montgomery is always a big game, you know, it’s a crosstown rival, first game of the year,” said Aymaud Sykes. “Everybody looks forward to coming. You really have to just put on the show for everybody who comes, let them know how the year is going to go, set the tone and start the season off right with a big dub”
A big game, indeed. Sykes’ week one performance against Montgomery broke the single-game touchdown record in Louisiana, according to LHSAA and will also earn him a spot in the National Federation of State High School Associatio
