GRANT PARISH, La. (KALB) - The Grant Parish Police Jury initiated the first step in a process to abolish the Ward Seven Hospital Service District on September 11.
Built in 1955 , the Ward Seven Hospital, commonly known as the Montgomery Family Clinic, serves rural areas near and around the Town of Montgomery. In 1952, the Grant Parish Police Jury passed an ordinance to create a district for the hospital, managed by a board of directors. This would allow the district to impose and collect ad valorem taxes dedicated to maintaining the clinic and improving the quality of healthcare residents received.
An ordinance introduced by the jury during its September meeting would invoke the police jury’s power to ‘govern’ local subdivisions, and in totality, dissolve the Hospital District and it
