CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The City of Cedar Falls came together Thursday morning to remember the lives lost on September 11th while honoring local first responders, veterans, and service members during the annual Hope & Honor 5K.

The event began on the Cedar Prairie Trail near the memorial marker for Scott Sterrett, a longtime city employee remembered for his dedication to the community. Sterrett’s family joined dozens of participants as Cedar Falls Mayor Danny Laudick and other city leaders reflected on the significance of the day.

The Hope & Honor 5K encouraged individuals, businesses, and groups to run, walk, or roll in honor of loved ones. Participants were given remembrance stickers and invited to share their stories on the city’s social media platforms.
