COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Big Ten , for years, has looked for and found ways to make more money than its peers.
It’s clear, in a time where we’ve gone from the Power Five to the Power Four, that there’s really a Power Two: the SEC and the Big Ten. The conferences have acted as the superpowers they are, demanding more money than, say, the ACC.
So, when a member institution within the Big Ten takes a page from its conference’s book, it shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Ohio State is the biggest brand in the Big Ten, drawing massive viewership to the conference’s TV partners — Fox, CBS and NBC. It’s not shocking the Buckeyes want to be rewarded as such when the conference’s current media rights deal is up at the end of the decade.
