SHANKSVILLE, Pa. —

When some people see the names on the marble wall at the Flight 93 National Memorial, they see loved ones.

“There were 40 extraordinary people,” Gordon Felt said. “Ed, my brother, was one of them. He would give you the shirt off his back. He would stop to help anyone he could.” Advertisement

“[My daughter] was a standby passenger on Flight 93,” Debby Borza said. “Deora was passionate about community service.”

“[My older brother] was always responsible and our caretaker for whatever we did as a group,” Ken Nacke said. “Superman was his favorite cartoon character.”

Everyone else sees those 40 people as superheroes. Those who banded together on Sept. 11 over two decades ago stopped United Flight 93 from potentially causing more harm on an already devastating day.
