UPPER ST. CLAIR, Pa. —

Jacobo Echeverria Lozano, an 18-year-old kicker for the Upper St. Clair High School football team, was born in Colombia. Lozano's family moved to the U.S. when he was just 4 years old.

His father, Jorge Echeverria, reflected on the challenges of arriving to the United States, saying, "Taking an international journey is not easy. We realize that across our life and our path, without knowing before, we both were looking for this." Advertisement

However, Echeverria Lozano said there isn't a day that goes by that he doesn't cherish his Colombian heritage.

"I am thankful to be Colombian, of course. It separates me a little bit from everyone else, and I think that's special. I think it's cool," he said.
