Adams Center, N.Y. — A driver was killed Wednesday night after an SUV crashed, overturned and caught fire in Jefferson County, according to State Police.
Around 11:08 p.m., police were called to a one-vehicle crash on Route 177 near Adams Center, according to Trooper Jennifer Jiron, a spokesperson for State Police.
A 2011 Ford Expedition was headed west when it went off the road and struck a culvert. The SUV overturned several times, hit a mailbox and caught on fire.
The driver, who was alone in the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to troopers.
State Police did not release the driver’s name at this time.
The crash remains under investigation.
