WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — A traveling memorial wall is giving visitors in Wethersfield a chance to reflect, remember and honor those who died in the Vietnam War.

The wall, a 360-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., opened to the public on Sept. 11, a date already marked by remembrance. Organizers said the timing was intentional, creating a connection between the sacrifices of Vietnam veterans and those who served in later conflicts, including the war on terror.

For many who gathered, the wall brought memories of the draft decades ago.

“We sat in college and watched the draft numbers,” said visitor Lynda Peterson.

She noted that the memories remain raw.

“I lived through it,” Peterson said.
