WASHINGTON —
Kentucky lawmakers are speaking out after the fatal attack on Charlie Kirk.
Congressman James Comer was in Washington, D.C., Thursday, where he raised concerns over public safety for politicians.
"You could have had a fleet of security guards, and no one would have noticed a guy laying down on a rooftop. When you're talking about 200 yards, you’re talking about Longworth from here. That's 200 yards. That's how far away that shooter was. I think we all need to kind of think about outdoor events more because you take what happened yesterday, and Butler (Pennsylvania), and it's terrible that we have to even have that conversation," Comer said.
Comer said outdoor events will likely happen less for members of Congress, at least in the short term.
