Those who knew Chicago-area native Charlie Kirk are mourning his death and reflecting on both his career in political activism and the drive he had to draw more young people to the Republican Party.
Thursday was a day of mourning and grieving for his supporters as they wait for updates on the investigation.
“The fact that we’re living in a day and time where people cannot express their political viewpoints and opinions without having to deal with violence is not the way I believe it is supposed to be in America,” said senior pastor Corey Brooks of New Beginnings Church of Chicago.
Brooks is currently walking across America to raise money for a new community center and for violence prevention initiative on the Chicago's South Side.
