CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTNH) — Following the fatal shooting of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, young conservatives in Connecticut express the importance of his legacy as a role model for their generation.

Charlie Kirk's videos and events were often among their first experiences with political debate.

At 25 years old, Connecticut Young Republicans Chairman Patrick Burland is part of a generation of American Conservatives who were galvanized by Charlie Kirk and the unique brand of outspoke, "prove me wrong" politics that the late 31-year-old pioneered.

"He is one of the people that made being a conservative on a college campus cool again," Burland said.
