NC State’s offense came to life in the second half and its defense shut down quarterback Robby Ashford and Wake Forest when it mattered most.

The Wolfpack subdued the Demon Deacons, 34-24, in front of just over 29,000 at Allegacy Stadium on Thursday night.

NC State went ahead for the first time with less than 13 minutes to go in the game when quarterback CJ Bailey hit Keenan Jackson for a 12-yard touchdown on third down. The Wolfpack took a 31-24 lead.

A little later, the Wolfpack took a 34-24 lead on a field goal with 6:19 left.

The Demon Deacons’ offense had just 13 yards in the third quarter, and on their first four possessions of the second half had three downs and a punt.
