RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – Rio Rancho Public Schools said two families received phone calls claiming their children had been abducted. The phone calls were hoaxes but included information about the children and "disturbing background noises." RRPS said the children were never in danger. The phone calls are under investigation.
RRPS offered these tips for anyone receiving calls: • Do not provide any personal information; hang up immediately. • Call 911 and report the incident to law enforcement. • Contact your child’s school to report the call and confirm your child is safe. • File a report with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).
