LINCOLN, Neb. —

Gov. Jim Pillen's signature on a new slate of Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission regulations on Thursday means the rules can take effect, but to some advocates, it's the death knell of medical marijuana in the state.

'The nail in the coffin on a medical program ever getting started to where patients will see real access in the state," Crista Eggers, the leader of Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana, said.

Eggers said the regulations, too stringent, will throttle the supply chain for patients in the state. The commission modified those rules after Pillen declined to sign the ones that were sent to his desk last week.
