SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A motorcyclist was hit by a vehicle Thursday in the Mountain View neighborhood, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 8:17 a.m. in the 1400 block of South 43rd St, the San Diego Police Department said in a news release.

Authorities say a 43-year-old man riding a purple Harley Davidson motorcycle veered from the northbound number two lane to the northbound number one lane when a vehicle overtook him from behind, passed him on the left and made a movement to the right.

The vehicle crashed into the motorcycle, caused the motorcyclist to fall to the ground and left continuing northbound on 43rd Street, per SDPD.

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with a fractured right clavicle and abrasions to the right elbow.
