Perth’s rental crisis has been laid bare with enormous queues for a mid-week viewing of a two-bedroom property on Friday.
The two-bedroom, one-bathroom property in Victoria Park was open for inspection at lunchtime and attracted “more than 100” prospective tenants.
The Kent street home advertised by Emerald Property Estate is listed at $450 a week — more than $200 a week cheaper than the median rental for a house — and with the tight Perth market, seemed too good to pass up for many.
A prospective renter said at its peak there were “more than 100” people in a queue which snaked out of the door and down the street.
One person in the queue said the amount of people was “crazy” for a mid-week viewing.
“I could count 70 people,” they said.
