SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) -Much of Florida has seen widespread cloud cover over the last few days, with the heaviest showers and storms continuing to pop up in areas of the southern half of the state. But change is on the way.

Over the next couple of days, drier air from the Deep South will drift into the state as a trough moves southeast from the Great Lakes through the Tennessee Valley.

Today, conditions will shift a bit for us, but with the front lingering in place across the southern half of Florida, unsettled weather will still be possible. Heavy rainfall will remain possible where moisture levels stay highest, which is in the southern 1/3 of the state. If you are traveling to Miami or the keys, expect periods of heavy rain. For the Suncoast, rain chances will hold at 30%.
