THE Green Bay Packers held a minute's silence for Charlie Kirk ahead of their Week Two NFL game against the Washington Commanders.

Kirk, a political activist for Turning Point USA, was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old was struck with a single bullet to the neck and died hours later in hospital.

Tributes across the USA have been made to the husband and father-of-two.

The Packers became the latest to join in the tributes when they held a minute's silence ahead of their game with the Commanders.

Ahead of the silence, an announcement could be heard over the speakers at Lambeau Field.

The announcer said: "The National Football League asks if you would please join us in a moment of silent reflection following the murder of Charlie Kirk .
