NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City Mayor Eric Adams might consider dropping his reelection campaign in the mayoral race, according to reporting from The New York Times.
It comes after a Siena College poll showed that if Adams and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa were to drop out of the race, it would give former Gov. Andrew Cuomo a better chance against frontrunner Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani. Mamdani is polling at 46%, having a 22-point advantage over Cuomo.
Sliwa and Adams trail behind the two, at 15% and 9% respectively, according to the poll. If the election were to become a two-way race, it may be easier for Cuomo to close the gap.
Adams said he’s not leaving the race, denying rumors last week that he would drop out if he was offered a job within the Trump administration.
