Maura Higgins has shut down a report claiming that she was turned away from a party after the National Television Awards (NTAs). The Love Island star took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday to hit back at headlines claiming that she was left "raging" after being denied entry into the official NTAs after-party on Wednesday night. In her lengthy post, Maura explained that she went home for "an early night" after the ceremony due to her work commitments the next day. She also claimed that the pictures of her supposedly standing outside the venue were actually taken at her hotel before the awards show. "Here we go again!!!! I had a fantastic night, won an award, drank water and left after the ceremony as I had an early call time this morning!!" she wrote alongside a screengrab of the article. "The Sun's headline is not only untrue, it's a prime example of how women are constantly vilified, exaggerated and reduced to clickbait. "The pictures used of me 'raging' were actually taken in my hotel lobby before I left for the red carpet, while I was waiting for my car - which is why my makeup artist and photographer are in the photos with me." The reality star added that she was invited to the after-party alongside all other nominees, but she opted not to go. Concluding her message, Maura fired, "Women in the public eye are too often painted as 'raging', 'angry', or 'difficult', while men in the same exact position would never be described this way. This isn't journalism, it's misogyny. Do better." The Irish personality, who was a contestant on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! last year, went on stage to collect The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award with the cast and crew of the jungle survival series during the ceremony.
