School has been back in session for nearly two weeks, and the Weyburn Police Service is reporting a good start to the year in terms of school zone driving safety. Officers were conducting extra patrols in these areas and Deputy Chief Shane St. John says for the most part, people were driving responsibly, but some warnings and tickets were issued.

“For how much construction we have going on and people having to get around different areas to get to the schools. It wasn't bad. It went rather peacefully.”

“I think the warnings and tickets are likely the same as every other year at the beginning of school. There are some people that are a little impatient, but I think until they get used to the road closures and they get up and going again, people are understanding."
