Police in Mwanza have arrested teacher at Fumbi Primary School, on charges of defiling a 14-year-old standard seven pupil.

According to Mwanza Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Ritta Nyirongo, the suspect allegedly lured the girl by promising her extra lessons. The scheme began after Maliro identified the girl as one of the students performing poorly in his class.

“He told the girl that she should be coming to his house every night so that he could give her extra tuition,” Nyirongo stated.

The police spokesperson confirmed that the suspect followed through on this plan for an entire month. However, the alleged extra lessons were a pretext for a different, criminal purpose.
