Police have arrested a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman running along a trail in New Haven last month.

Police released a sketch of the suspect shortly after the incident. It happened on a trail south of Fort Hale Dog Park on Townsend Avenue on Aug. 9, police said.

A woman told police that she was running in a wooded area when a man attacked her after brandishing a box cutter. He then took off.

The man, Ludvi Carias-Interiano, 34, was arrested at his home in West Haven on Thursday.

He is facing charges including aggravated sexual assault and unlawful restraint, and is being held on a $750,000 bond.
