MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Madison County officials said that an intersection will be completely closed off to drivers so that a new roundabout can be constructed.

Beginning Monday, September 15, the intersection of Pettus Road and Pine Grove Road will close so that construction can begin.

The closure will allow crews to complete phases of the project more efficiently and safely.

As part of the closure, Pettus Road will be closed to traffic between Douglass Road and Mt. Zion Road.

Officials said that residents living within this stretch will continue to have access to their homes, but no traffic will be able to travel through the Pettus Road and Pine Grove Road intersection in any direction.
