Singer-songwriter and actor Lyle Lovett was impressed by Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, the free music festival held in Golden Gate Park, when he performed at the annual event 16 years ago.

“There must have been 100,000 people, and it’s an incredible feeling to be on one of those stages, so I’m a fan of the event,” said Lovett, a four-time Grammy Award winner who has released 14 albums.

Lovett’s vocals and guitar return to the stage in San Francisco on Saturday, this time indoors at Davies Symphony Hall. He, his Acoustic Group and the Edwin Outwater-conducted San Francisco Symphony will perform a concert to celebrate the free music festival’s 25th iteration . This year’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass runs Oct. 3-5 .
