A local vigil was held on Friday morning to honor the life of Conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, who was killed at a Utah university this week.

The parent-led gathering took place at Boerne Main Plaza around 7 a.m. and was open to everyone in the community.

The vigil was organized to help their children process emotions felt by the assassination of Kirk on Wednesday.

At Boerne Main Plaza, the event went on for about 30 minutes, featuring prayer and speakers from the community.

KSAT spoke to one parent attending the event, who said he felt high schoolers in the community needed a space to mourn.
