MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Former Memphis Police officer Demetrius Haley will be released on bond ahead of a retrial on federal charges related to the death of Tyre Nichols.

Haley has been in federal custody ever since a jury found him guilty of obstruction of justice and using unreasonable force resulting in injury. Judge Mark Norris denied bond for Haley but allowed bond for former officers Tadarrius Bean and Justin Smith, who were convicted of obstruction of justice: witness tampering.
