The family of Charlie Kirk shooting suspect Tyler Robinson’s played a crucial role in authorities apprehending him.
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said 22-year-old Robinson, of Washington, Utah, was taken into custody after one of Robinson’s family members reached out to a family friend.
That friend in turn reached out to the Washington County, Utah Sheriff’s Office to relay that Robinson confessed.
“Ladies and gentleman, we got him,” Cox told a news conference in Orem, Utah along with the FBI and state authorities.
Cox said the family member indicated that Robinson became increasingly political and Robinson mentioned that Kirk was appearing at Utah Valley University and didn’t like Kirk or his views.
Robinson said, according to Cox, that Kirk “is full of hate and spreading hate.”
