The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has provided an update on their investigation into an assault on a senior, as charges have been made official.
The incident occurred around noon on Wednesday, September 10, near the Save-On Foods on the 1200 block of 2A Avenue North.
According to LPS, the senior’s bike was stolen, and when he confronted the man who took it, a physical altercation ensued.
“The subject punched the elderly male, causing him to fall backward and strike his head on the pavement. The subject fled the scene prior to police arrival,” LPS alleges.
The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital. He was later airlifted to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, where he remains in critical condition.
